(A decent rewrite, I think; nuclear fuel will get its own page as opposed to lumping u-fuel in here and putting mox fuel on its own)

Uranium can be obtained by mining [[Uranium Ore]]. It can be crushed, washed and centrifuged to create Uranium-235 and Uranium-238, which can be further used in nuclear engineering.

'''Uranium-235''' is the more useful part of Uranium ore, however, it only accounts for 2.7-4.25% of natural Minecraftian Uranium (in real life, only about 0.72%). This is the part which sustains the fission chain reaction. Uranium-235, in sufficient quantity, can sustain fission even when being enriched with the common and non-fissile Uranium-238. The result is an even more useful beta-decayed Uranium-238, also known as [[Plutonium|Plutonium-239]].

** Our scientists still cannot explain why a block of U238 isn't a radiation hazard, but there are a few HAYO-ish rumors involving tiny radioactive-eating bees... Don't ask me.

'''Uranium-238''' is the most common isotope of Uranium. Uranium-238 alone cannot sustain a nuclear fission chain reaction, which is why it is enriched with Uranium-235.
Uranium is expensive stuff, though!  You wouldn't waste it on something like that, would you?  I mean, not more than once or twice or twenty times...

To enrich uranium, you need only craft it as so:

Uranium Ore in game.
Uranium Block in game.

Uranium is a metal resource added by IC² and generated as ore between layers 0 and 64, usually in groups of up to 2 blocks. It requires an iron pickaxe or better to mine.

Several forms of uranium are radioactive and will poison (often quite severely) anyone handling them without the use of a Hazmat Suit.

Forms[edit]

These forms of uranium are seen during ore processing:

Uranium is not used in metal shaping, but has the following additional forms:

These additional forms are mostly for compact/compressed storage, and have no crafting use. Well, not 'crafting' per se...

Uses[edit]

Uranium's primary use is the crafting of nuclear fuel (to turn into fuel rods).

Apart from that it's not particularly useful, apart from decorating your house with the blocks.

Or perhaps throwing it at other players with inventory space and watching them die of radiation poisoning.

Uranium is expensive stuff, though! You wouldn't waste it on something like that, would you? I mean, not more than once or twice or twenty times...
