Silver
Silver is a metal resource added by IC², but not generated as ore. Absent any other mods that generate it, silver is only acquired by processing 
Gold Ore.
Forms[edit]
These forms of silver are seen during ore processing (the first two only if silver ore is generated):
If silver ore is not generated, silver dust is acquired (in tiny piles) by running 
Crushed Gold Ore or 
Purified Crushed Gold Ore through a 
Thermal Centrifuge.
Silver is not used in metal shaping. Currently[2.8.75] its only non-dust forms are 
Silver Ingot and 
Silver Block, neither of which are used by IC² (yet).
Uses[edit]
Silver has a single use, albeit an extremely important one: crafting 
Glass Fibre Cables.
- In addition to carrying power tier 5 voltage), these are used to craft the
Teleporter, which is used to craft the 
Advanced Miner and 
Replicator.
Each Gold Ore you process will only get you 2x 
Tiny Pile of Silver Dust, so 9 ore will get you enough for 2x 
Silver Dust. Treasure your gold!
Crafting[edit]
Basic crafting is the same for (almost) every metal. Silver is one of the odd ones out, with nothing but dust to smelt (which does you little good, unless you're making blocks for storage or decoration I suppose).
9 ingots craft into a block and vice versa.
Dust comes from 9 small piles, but you can't craft small piles out of a single dust like you can craft ingots out of a block.
