Nuclear Reactors run on Fuel Rods. The Fuel Rod (Uranium) , or Uranium Fuel Rod, is the most basic of all Fuel Rods. Use caution when handling: they are radioactive.

Recipe[edit]

A Canning Machine will use an appropriate amount of Gibbl to vacuum-seal the Empty Fuel Rod.

Uses[edit]

Electric Reactor[edit]

The primary use of a Uranium Fuel Rod is to sit in a Nuclear Reactor. Uranium Fuel Rods will have a durability of 10,000 (they last 20,000 seconds). By default, a Uranium Fuel Rod will produce at least 1,000,000 EU over its 20,000 second lifetime. Once every two seconds, the reactor does two passes on all its components. The first pass is for heat, the second for EU. On both passes, the Uranium Fuel Rod starts with one pulse. Usage of the word "heat" in this section is distinct from Heat.

Heat Pass[edit]

For each adjacent component, the uranium rod gets 1 extra pulse. The heat to be generated is calculated by the following formula:

heat/second =
n(n+1)/2
× 4; where n is the number of adjacent components which send neutron pulses

The Uranium Fuel Rod will attempt to distribute heat evenly to adjacent heat-accepting components. The order of distribution is left, right, down, up. The amount distributed to each heat-accepting component is the remaining heat divided by the remaining components rounded down, and this same amount is subtracted from the Fuel Rod's heat. There are cases where the component sends heat back to the Fuel Rod (such as the leftover heat when a vent breaks), and this does affect how much heat is sent to remaining components. Any remaining heat after distribution is sent to the reactor hull.

Finally the Fuel Rod will take 1 damage. It will only become a Depleted Uranium Fuel Rod on the EU pass.

EU Pass[edit]

1 EU is added to the reactor's output value. An additional 1 EU is added for each adjacent component which interacts with Neutron Pulses. Remember, the reactor will modify its output value when the energynet asks for the final EU output at the end of each tick (by default it is multiplied by 5).

Finally, if the item damage value is 19999 or less, it will turn into a Depleted Uranium Fuel Rod. Item damage is only taken during the heat pass.
