Plutonium 239 is a highly dangerous radioactive element, that can't be found in the nature, but can be synthesized in nuclear reactor from Uranium 238.
Plutonium from the experimental versions of IC2 comes from centrifuging depleted cells of Uranium or MOX Nuclear Fuel. These depleted cells can no longer be used for breeding purposes and are dropped 100% of the time when a cell becomes depleted.
Plutonium is a great source of energy and is used in the creation of MOX fuel rods and Pellets of RTG Fuel.
