The HV Transformer is used to convert High Voltage (512 EU/t) into Extreme Voltage (2048 EU/t) and back. The HV Transformer is one step up from the MV Transformer and will take incoming packets EU packets up to 512 in size and convert them into larger packets up to 2048 in size.
A Redstone signal may be applied to reverse the conversion, thereby emitting 2048 EUP from the output face (the 3-dotted one), and accepting 512 EUP or lower from the input faces.
The HV Transformer can handle a maximum of one conversion per tick, limiting the maximum transfer to 2048 EU/t in either mode.
The voltage conversion is lossless which makes choosing the proper wiring for the interfaces easy. The Extreme Voltage I/O can only be handled by HV Cable. The High Voltage I/O face is safe to connect to Glass Fibre Cable, Splitter Cable, Detector Cable, and HV Cable only.
Note that since HV Cable suffers from high resistance losses, HV Transformers should be placed to close to whatever is using/producing the Extreme Voltage to minimize this loss.
