The Compressor is used to create many advanced items, such as Advanced Alloy and Carbon Plate. Other applications include the creation of Compressed Plants (the main component of Biofuel), snowballs, ice blocks, diamonds, and construction foam pellets.
Note: As of v1.337 a Pump with a infinite water source under it and a compressor placed directly next to it will pump and compress water into snowballs without the need for cells.

Placing the item you want to compress in the upper slot compacts it, creating new items.
