Yes, this machine is actually capable of doing it:
Trading ressources to prices YOU determine. Without any further handling. Just place it somewhere, place a chest next to it and fill the chests with stuff you want to sell.
Then, set a price by placing IC in the last slots of the chest. You can even use multiple stacks of IC,
and thus sell goods for higher prices then 64, by filling the chest with coins, from the last slot to the first.
You may as well use coinstacks instead of coins.
Of course, you should consider leaving space for the money the Item-O-Mat will earn, otherwise you may find it stopping to work, exspecially as Item-O-Mats are not human and will not form coins into 9er-coinstacks.
This block has only sense in SMP.
