To mine Uranium Ore you need at least an Iron Pickaxe.

For mining one Uranium Ore you get 1 Uranium.

Uranium is used primarily in Nuclear Reactors, but can also be used to make a certain explosive...

It is found between layers 0 and 64, and usually in groups of up to 4 blocks.
