The Extractor is used to extract f.e. clumpy Fuel or, the most sense, to extract Log to Rubberballs.
Like the other machines you got two ways to give the Extractor the Energy, either with direct Cable connection or with energy storage items like Single-use Batteries.
To the usage: Only put the item, you want to extract in the upper slot.
The Extractor is very useful for making Cables, which you will need very often.
