The Multi-Functional Storage Unit, or MFSU, is a Tier 3 energy storage device. It is able to store up to 10 million EU (making it capable of powering multiple teleportations, running a Mass Fabricator, or directly storing power from most Nuclear Reactors). It can accept up to 512 EU-Packet power, with unlimited EU/t, from its 5 input faces (the faces without dots). It can also emit a current of 512 EU/t from its output face (the face with a dot).

Like all storage units, its output face is marked by a special texture, which usually faces the player when the block is placed. The direction of the output face can be changed by right-clicking with a Wrench onto any of the input faces of the block; normally, this will point the output face towards the player, but holding Shift while clicking will point the output face in the opposite direction. Be aware that right-clicking the MFSU while pointing at its output face will dismantle it.

Note that applying a Redstone signal to the MFSU will make it stop emitting power from the output face until it's full.

Wiring Tip: Do NOT use Tin Cable, Gold Cable, or Copper Cable on the output face, they cannot handle the 512 EU/p that the MFSU's output emits. Instead use Glass Fibre Cable or HV Cable.

Notice: Most machines cannot handle 512 EU/p being sent to their storage, so they explode. Use a MV Transformer to transform the 512 EU into 128 EU Packets (High Voltage to Medium Voltage), then use a LV Transformer to transform the 128 EU Packets into 32 EU Packets (Medium Voltage to Low Voltage). All Machines (including the BatBox, MFE, and MFSU) can handle Low Voltage EU Packets without exploding.

You need:

Coal 16
Copper Dust 48
Diamond 10
Glowstone Dust 2
Iron Dust 32
Lapis Lazuli 38
Redstone 110
Rubber 82
Tin Dust 5
Full resource sheet

  1. Grind the coal into coal dust. Combine 6 of the copper dust with 2 of the tin dust to produce 4 bronze dust. Create 10 Energy Crystals. Smelt the remaining dust.
    • You actually only need 3 bronze dust, but the crafting recipe requires that 4 be produced. Every other MFSU created at once requires 3 less copper dust and 1 less tin dust.
  2. Create 84 Uninsulated Copper Cables. Smelt 3 of the bronze dust and all of the iron ingots. Create 4 Carbon Fibers.
    • Similar to the bronze dust, you actually only need 82 cables, but the crafting recipe for copper cables requires that 84 be produced. Every third MFSU created at once requires 3 less copper dust.
  3. Add rubber insulation to 82 of the copper cables. Combine the carbon fibers into 2 Raw Carbon Mesh and compress them to Carbon Plates. Create 2 Mixed Metal Blocks and compress them to Advanced Alloy plates. Create 2 Machine Blocks.
  4. Use the alloy and carbon plates to upgrade one of the Machine Blocks to an Advanced Machine. Create 13 Electronic Circuits and one MFE.
  5. Create 6 Lapotron Crystals and one Advanced Circuit.
  6. You can now create your MFSU.
