The Coolant Cell is a heat storage Nuclear Reactor component. It can be created by surrounding a water cell with 4 tin plates or by using a canning machine in "Fluid Enrich" mode with water and lapis lazuli dust.
Coolant Cells are used to store heat within the Nuclear Reactor and Reactor Pressure Vessel Pressure Vessel Reactor.

This component will sink heat from other components, there is no self cooling or future heat distribution, you will need vents to restore cell or replace it.

Usage[edit]

When used in a Grid Nuclear Reactor.png Nuclear Reactor, the Coolant Cell serves simply as a large heat buffer. It does not dissipate heat on its own. It can be placed next to a Grid Uranium Cell.png Uranium Cell to collect heat or next to a Grid Heat Exchanger.png Heat Exchanger to release heat.

A Coolant Cell cannot be placed into a Grid Reactor Pressure Vessel.png Pressure Vessel Reactor until it is completely cool. A cool Coolant Cell can still be used in the Reactor Pressure Vessel as normal. If the Coolant Cell is removed from the Pressure Vessel Reactor, it must be cooled down before it can be used in a fluid reactor again. The Coolant Cell can be cooled by placing it into an EU Nuclear Reactor.

A fully heated Coolant Cell, like most other reactor components, will be destroyed.

Coolant Cells are also used to craft Grid Overclocker Upgrade.png Overclocker Upgrades.
