An '''EU charging item''' or '''portable recharger''', as opposed to an [[EU storage item]], is carried in the inventory and has the capability to automatically recharge other items of the appropriate power tier or below.

== Use and notes ==

All charging items have three modes, toggled by right-clicking with the item in hand.
* '''Disabled''': all charging processes are stopped; the charging item will retain its full energy storage.
* '''Charge Items not in hand''': any items in the action bar, ''except for the one currently being held'', will be charged (if same power tier or below).
* '''Enabled''': as above, but will also charge the item currently in hand.
(The charging item itself can be in the inventory or action bar and still charge other items.)

Charging items will not charge each other, nor will they charge any armor that is equipped; it must be placed in the action bar like anything else. Each item will only charge other items at or below its power tier, and like the EU storage items used to craft them, they cannot be recharged in an [[EU storage block]] below their power tier.

Each charging item is used to craft the next tier, and each tier has the same capacity as the four EU storage items used to craft it.

IC² currently has four charging items.
