The Mining Laser is a powerful high-tech tool with a variety of applications. It can be used as an insta-mining tool with a relatively low EU consumption, as well as a high-power AoE block remover, or even as a weapon. All blocks destroyed by the Laser are dropped, with the exception of non-drop blocks like Glass or Leaves. However, due to the destructive nature of the Laser, there is a chance that the block will be destroyed and not drop anything. IndustrialCraft machines drop a Machine block, as if they were destroyed by a pickaxe. As of 1.337, the Mining Laser can use energy from a LapPack.

As of 1.90, the Mining Laser has 7 different modes. These modes can be switched by holding the M key and right-clicking.
The Mining Laser can store 200.000 EU, which determines how many shots of each type can be fired. The block penetration distance depends on the hardness of the particular block. In this chart, block penetration is based on smoothstone and dirt. For explosive shots, the penetration radius denotes the radius of the explosion.

It should also be noted that the Mining Laser can be used in Low-Focus mode to mine both faster than the Diamond Drill and at half the energy cost! HAYO!

Wind Mills are Generators that utilize the energy of the wind to produce EU. They are the most unstable and unpredictable type of generators, depending greatly upon both placement and pure luck.

Recipe
Usage
Optionally place an RE Battery in the upper slot. The Wind Mill will charge the battery or output power at a rate of 0-4 EU/t depending on placement.

Detailed Mechanics
- A Wind Mill will produce on average 250 EU per Minecraft day multiplied by its height in the world.
This number varies greatly due to the highly unpredictable and constantly changing wind strength in the world; this number can be anything from 0 to 1000 EU. (Although numbers far below 150 or far above 320 are uncommon <!-- needs verification in 1.42 -->)

- A Wind Mill's efficiency can be hindered by any kind of block placed in a 9x9x7 area around it.

Top view:

Side view:

It's best to have the cable from the Wind Mill underneath it and down at least two blocks before turning.

- For each obstructing block, a Wind Mill's effective height lowers by 1.

- A Wind Mill treats non-block items like torches and Redstone wires as obstructions too.

- A Wind Mill doesn't treat the roof of the world as an obstruction.

- Wind Mills produce 50% extra EU/t in a thunderstorm, and 20% when it's raining but not in a thunderstorm.

- If a wind mill produces more than 5 EU/t, it has a chance of breaking. If a wind mill's effective height is no more than 80, it cannot break.

Examples:

A Wind Mill placed as high as possible (layer 126), with no obstructions (apart from the 2 cable blocks under the wind mill) will produce roughly 31000 EU (250 * 124) a day or 1.3 EU/t overall.

A Wind Mill that was placed near bedrock (layer 10) with no obstructions (not including the cable again) produced 2000 EU (250 * 8) a day (0.1 EU/t overall).

Technical Details (Client v1.95 | MC1.2.5)
Wind Strength
* Minimum strength is 0, Maximum is 30.
* Modified every 128 ticks (About 6.4 seconds)
* Chance to increase or decrease by 1.
* 10% chance to increase if current strength is 0 to 20.
* 10% chance to decrease if current strength is 10 to 30.
* Current strength of 0 to 9 have (10 - (10 - current strength)) chance to decrease in strength. (E.g. 0 current strength has 0% chance to decrease, 1 = 1% to decrease, ..., 9 = 9%)
* Current strength of 21 to 30 have (10 - (current strength - 20)) chance to increase in strength. (E.g. 21 current strength has 9% chance to increase, 22 = 8% to increase, ..., 30 = 0%)
Maximum safe, with 2 cables, is 4.98 (y: 149, obstructions: 2, and thundering). Maximum safe, with 2 cables, is y=191 if you wish to ignore high wind and rain storms.
* Calculation is: power = s * (y - 64 - c) / 750; 's' is Wind Strength, 'y' is Block Height, and 'c' is number of blocks (not including the windmill itself) in a 9x9x7 area around the windmill.
* Power has a 50% (* 1.5) increase if it is thundering, 20% (* 1.2) increase if it is raining.
* If the power is higher than 5, there is a 0% to 0.1292% chance (chance based on power) to change the windmill to a generator and drop 0 to 4 iron ingots.
Generators are used to either supply direct power to machines or charge RE Batteries. The basic Generators operate on conventional fuel, which includes most wooden items, Charcoal, Coal, certain plants, and scrap.

While costly in terms of fuel, basic generators are also one of the most mobile power sources, and don't suffer the drawbacks of requiring sunlight, water, lava, or proper wind as the case is with the other types of generators.
The Automated Miner is the lazy man's answer to mining.

Why spend all that time down in dangerous caves when with a little EU, and a few bits and pieces, you can mine ore from the surface!

Requirements
To run the Automated Miner requires 4 things:

Energy: From a cable or portable sources (NOT including Batpacks or Tier II or Tier III energy devices.)

Pipe: Mining Pipe is consumed to dig down. Returned once the miner retracts

Drill bit: Mining Drill or Diamond Drill

Scanner: OD Scanner or OV Scanner

Operation
To use the miner insert a Drill Bit into the top-left, a Scanner in the top-right and your Mining Pipes into the top-middle.

The miner will consume the pipes to dig down extracting ore it finds in its scan range(See Scanning Range section).

Any ore found will be brought up and ejected onto the surface next to the miner. Placing a chest next to the miner will result in the ore being stored in it instead.

Once the miner has finished you can retract the pipes by removing the Drill bit. Also you may place blocks (Dirt etc.) in the pipe slot to fill in the shaft when it retracts.

An easy method of efficiently mining with the Automated Miner is to dig down to the upper level of the strata containing the ore you are seeking. Dig through a tunnel until you find a scan result you are happy with and set up the Miner. For power, consider using a Geothermal Generator, as you are likely to be relatively deep and hauling buckets of Lava is an energy efficient means to power the Miner.

Scanning range
A miner with an OD Scanner mines all ore in a 5x5 block area around it.

However a miner with an OV Scanner mines all ore in a massive 9x9 block area!

Liquids
If the miner hits water or lava while tunneling it will stop unless they are cleared.

Alternatively if you place a Pump next to the miner (filled with empty cells) it will extract the liquids for you, storing the lava in the cells for power generation!

Recipe
Energy Costs
Rough power costs for one operation:

Mining Drill: ~450-470 EU

Diamond Drill: ~880-900 EU

OD Scanner: ~65-75 EU

OV Scanner: ~165-190 EU

So the cost to drill down 1 level with a Mining Drill + OD Scanner is ~460+~70 = 530

And the cost to drill down 1 level with a Diamond Drill + OD Scanner is ~990+~70 = 960

Diamond Drills are far more expensive but far faster. ~4 times as fast.

EU/Tick:

A miner with a Mining Drill and OD Scanner will use ~2-3 EU/t.

A miner with a Diamond Drill and OV Scanner will use ~20-24 EU/t due to the higher cost per tool and faster mining speed.

Other Notes
Miners can not mine through items like torches, redstone wiring etc.
Put the Electrolyzer next to an MFE or MFSU and it'll take some power to convert Water Cells into Electrolyzed Water Cells. Electrolyzed Water Cells can be used to store power for later usage.
Electrolyzed Water Cells absorb 15000 EU, but lose 1500 EU, only storing 13500 EU. When left in the Electrolyzer, adjacent to an empty MFE/MFS, they will discharge into the MFE/MFS, converting them back to Water Cells again.

In other words, the Electrolyzer acts as an additional storage device for your MFE/MFS unit that, while slow to charge and discharge, can be disassembled and stored, etc.

The Electrolyzer GUI is not completed yet, as it looks like a Geothermal Generator. Simply place the Water Cells directly to the left of the energy storage display (not in one of the actual input/output slots of the generator GUI, but between them) and as they are removed from the stack and filled with energy, they will be placed in a slot directly to the right of the energy storage display. From there, they may be removed to store for later or left in place to discharge as needed.
The BatBox is the most basic energy storage device. It is able to store up to forty thousand EU, and can accept currents of up to 32 EU/s from any of its 5 input faces (but no more than 32 EU/s in total; if one face is accepting 32 EU/s, other input faces cannot take any power). It can also emit a current of up to 32 EU/s from its output face.

Like all storage units, its output face is marked by a special texture, which usually faces the player when the block is placed. The direction of the output face can be changed by right-clicking with a Wrench onto any of the input faces of the block. Be aware that right-clicking the BatBox while pointing at its output face will dismantle it.

Note that applying a Redstone signal to the BatBox will make it stop emitting power from the output face.

This block can charge most energy storage devices. Likewise, it is very useful to implement BatBoxes to both store power from generators and also as a method of extending the reach of your cable. A typical starter setup of Industrial devices involves a natural generator (such as a wind or solar array for free energy) feeding into a BatBox with a row of copper cable along the front of the Batbox which feeds the back of your Macerator, Furnace, etc (in essence, a T-shaped network). Note that the BatBox resets the cable length energy loss calculations, so they work well to extend your power network; using up to four insulated copper cable segements from the generator to the BatBox and up to four segments away from your BatBox to all your devices without losing any energy. Likewise, they can very easily be daisy chained to extend your storage capabilities.
The Low Voltage Transformer is used to turn Medium Voltage (MV) EU current into Low Voltage (LV) and back. This is useful for powering basic machines.

MV current must be wired into the High Voltage face (the 3-dotted one), while LV current can be wired into any other face. By default, the Transformer outputs LV current. A Redstone signal must be applied to it in order to make it reverse flow; thereby emitting MV current from the High Voltage face (the 3-dotted one).

|A3=Wooden Planks|B3=Insulated Copper Cable|C3=Wooden Planks
|Output=LV Transformer
}}

Usage
When using any Transformer, remember that the 3-dotted side means higher current and the 1-dotted sides mean lower current. You can change the direction the 3-dotted side is facing by right-clicking a 1-dotted face with a Wrench.

Converting to LV:
In order to convert from MV to LV, you must point the cable carrying MV from a MV Transformer or MFE Unit to the 3-dotted side and then link a cable to one of the sides with a single dot. Then that cable will be carrying LV that you can safely link to machines or store in a BatBox.

Converting to MV:
In order to convert from LV to MV, point the cable carrying LV from a BatBox or a Generator to one of the one-dotted sides and then link a cable that can carry MV to the 3-dotted side. Do not forget to apply Redstone to the LV Transformer.
