Solar Panels are generators that utilize the energy of the Sun to generate EU. This fact means that they cannot work underground (unless there is an unobstructed view of the sky), in the Nether or the End. They also don't work at night.

The addition of electronic circuits in their latest design has done some strange things. Now that they have awareness they have all decided (union rules, nothing we can do) that they won't work as hard if the weather is bad.

Recipe
So, for this recipe you need:
* 3 Coal Dust
* 3 <span class="pops">Glass</span>
* 2 Electronic Circuits
* 1 Generator

Or, if you would like a list of the raw materials:
* 3 <span class="pops">Coal</span> for Coal Dust
* 3 <span class="pops">Glass</span>
* 6 <span class="pops">Redstone</span>
* 13 Rubber
* 9 Copper
* 4 Tin
* 5-10 Refined Iron (if 5 refined iron then you will need 5 <span class="pops">Iron Ingots</span>)
* 8 <span class="pops">Cobblestone</span>
* Enough energy to macerate, extract, and smelt all this.

Usage
Solar Panels output power at a rate of 1 EU/t during daylight hours (from 6:20 to 17:45). Power will output to any side except the top. Inclement weather (i.e., storms) affects energy production.

Solar Flowers
Due to the relative weakness of power generation, Solar Panels are often assembled into so-called Solar Flowers (when using Copper Cable), whereby as many Solar Panels as possible are connected to a BatBox using cable lengths of four segments or less. These constructions provide the benefit of compact and relatively cheap Solar Panel arrangements without energy losses. This was the most efficient design that existed in IC1 and earlier versions of IC2. The addition of Tin Cable, which allows micro currents to be carried 40 blocks, has made other arrangements equally feasible. Now, arrangements using a combination of tin and copper cables can provide superior efficiency, and don't require such intricate planning.

Bugs
*Solar Panels are bugged with the WorldEdit stack command, they will appear pointing north, therefore not working yet it is just a visual glitch and the solar panels will continue to work! HAYO!

HAYO
Ah, the technology of Future!
Solar Panels are the futuristic and 100% clean alternative to gather energy. They don't even use any kind of fuel but the sun, seriously!

You can just place them somewhere in sunlight, put a battery in and be happy.

As fair salesmen, we feel responsible to tell you that charging up RE Batteries by Solar Panels may take some time.
This is not because of the low efficiency of the Solar Panels, but because our RE Batteries are so frikkin' awesome, they just need a long time to charge. HAYO!

Interaction with other mods
* GregTech has a configuration by default to nerf the recipe of the Solar Panel. The new recipe with that feature turned on is:

The first row are glass panes, and the second row (excluding the middle) are Silicon Plates.
* There is an addon named Advanced Solar Panels that introduces 3 new solar panels, (Advanced, Hybrid and Ultimate Hybrid) each an upgrade from the last.
* There is another addon called CompactSolars that also introduces 3 solar "arrays", which are combinations of many solar panels (LV --> 8 solars, MV --> 64 solars, HV --> 512 solars).
I:energyGeneratorSolar=100
and change it to any number you want (100 = 1 EU/t)
The Iron Furnace is 20% faster and 25% more fuel efficient than a Furnace. For example, it can smelt 10 items per piece of (Char)Coal compared to only 8 in a regular Furnace and it takes 8 seconds instead of 10 to perform the operation.

Two possible recipes are available. Using a stone furnace reduces the cost by 3 Iron.
Did you ever thought "wtf i can only use a small stone oven to smelt my 9001 blocks of cobble?" Yes?

Then you're frikkin right, right here:

We introduce: THE IRON FURNACE

Applying most innovative technology and craploads of other useless stuff, we created this awesomely fresh looking Furnace just for you!
Of, course, it takes some iron to craft, but in redo it will reduce ALL smelting durations by awesome 20%!
Wait, you say that's useless, because every playing Minecraft has lots of free time on his hands anyways?
Now, what if i tell you, that due to accelerated smelting you will use 20% less fuel as well!
The Macerator is a grinding machine, capable of breaking down blocks and items. It is used to increase ore output and convert some blocks and items into more useful resources.

For example:

* The Macerator grinds down one Tin Ore into two Tin Dust, each of which can be smelted into a Tin Ingot.
* Cobble can be grinded down to sand, and gravel to flint.

It uses either a direct Cable connection or an energy storage item (Single-use Battery or RE Battery).
Trivia
* The Macerator gives off dust particle effects while in use.

HAYO
The grinding pressure of the Macerator is kept at a modest 50 gibbl.

Did you ever feel like life was being unfair to you?

Did you ever feel angered about your neighbour miner finding loads of minerals whereas you didn't?

Now, did you ever take a look at his work station?

Do you want to know why he had giant loads of valuable ingots to craft into more awesome stuff?

HE HAD A MACERATOR!

Stupid people (this does not apply to customers or everyone reading this, but to everyone you personally dislike) smelt ore.
What a shameful waste. You just smelt some ore out of the rock and then trash the remains? Nah, only idiots do that.

Every Pro Miner knows, that 50% of a rock's mineral deposits are surrounded by massive rock and can't be obtained by smelting.

For this problem, we invented the Maceratron-E-901!

It uses the combined force of smart technology and brute force to break open every single tiny particle of stone, effectively doubling the efficiency of gaining ore.
It takes some time, but will completely waste-free and 100%-sure turn the entire ore-rock into dust and then automatically filter the useless stone out.
As a result, it will return you high-quality ore-dust of whatever material you dropped in there.

And, you may guess it, this dust can be smelted into ingots! Isn't that great? You can easily DOUBLE your entire ore production. Don't hesitate, BUY NOW, HAYO!
The Water Mill has two modes of operation:
:*Manned: The Water Mill is filled manually by placing Water Buckets or a Water Cell in the lower slot

Water Towers
A Water Mill on its own will produce very little EU if left unmanned, even when completely surrounded in water. So it's better to build compact clusters of them. A 'water tower' is one of many methods.

A water tower is a number of watermills, usually stacked, such that they all feed to the same energy storage device and are surrounded by water. For best results, arrange the tower sections so that there's at least a one block layer of water around each watermill. Below is an example of a horizontal layer of a watermill.

Detailed Mechanics
A Water Mill only uses water that directly surrounds it (a 3x3x3 box with the Water Mill in the center). Each block of water adds roughly .01 EU/t to its overall output.

Using the water tower design from above will result in each Water Mill being surrounded by 21 water blocks like so:

21 * 0.010 = 0.21 EU/t from each watermill, 0.84 EU/t from each layer of watermills. So, to run a Macerator non-stop 2.5 layers (10 watermills) are needed (2.1 EU/t)

Some notes about the behavior of some Water Mills that were studied:
* Water Mills can 'share' the same water block with seemingly no effect.
* Using flowing water instead of still water had no noticeable effect.
* A Water Mill suspended over water will still react to the water below it even though the watermill is not visibly touching the water.
* Water Mills are not noticeably affected by rainfall.

HAYO
For those who prefer old-school energy generation, we invented this nice little thingy.

The Water Mill can produce energy... by using WATER, isn't that suprising?
Sounds simple, doesn't it?
But i hope, you didn't forget the good ol' times? You know, the times where people were actually WORKING for their lives? The Water Mill is for THAT kind of people.
If you want to use it, fine, but keep in mind it needs a constant supply of fresh water to charge RE Batterys.

If your mouse-clicking finger hurts, don't blame us, HAYO!

Interaction with other mods
* Liquid Transposers from Thermal Expansion may be used to fill water buckets. Otherwise, deployers from Redpower may be used.
* GregTech adds a method of "recycling" used water mills back into generators. (Shapeless)

Nuclear Physics 101
Welcome, to the Industrial Craft School of Nuclear-arity!<br>
Here, we shall give some tips and tricks to avoid turning your new home into a melting slag heap!

Step 1: Finding Uranium Ore
There is no easy way to find Uranium Ore short of mining, mining, mining. It appears randomly in very small veins, and has been seen on the surface at sea level. It also appears rarely in the walls of caverns. It must be mined with an Iron or better Pickaxe, and will drop 1&times; Uranium when successfully mined.

Step 2: My First Reactor(tm)
The Chernobyl-2 Nuclear Reactor is expensive to build, relying as it does on hard-to-obtain elements like Glowstone and Copper Plates. Don't expect to build one in your first week.

If you think you've got the stocks make one, then let's do it!
Advanced materials you will need:

1 Advanced Circuit

1 Generator

3 Reactor Chambers

Wait... what? Reactor chambers? What on Earth?
It's the core of the nuclear reactor, containing all your precious reactor components and fuel.
Well, hopefully containing it... more on that later.

First you'll need 12 Copper Plates for the Reactor Chambers:

*Note: You have to Compress 8 Copper at once.

You can then use these to build your 3 Reactor Chambers:

Almost there!

Using the Generator, Advanced Circuit, and your new Reactor Chambers, craft the wonder that is the Chernobyl-2 Nuclear Reactor:

Congratulations! World Domination is a step closer to reality!

Step 3: Finding Your 3-Mile Island
Siting your Nuclear Reactor is crucial! Proximity and Containment is key here.

These two considerations are interdependent- heavily shielding a reactor with carefully placed Reinforced Stone means it can be safely sited quite close to your precious mansion/fortress/hobbithole; whereas an unshielded reactor should be sited far, far away from anything and everything you hold dear.

Step 4: Heavy Water
Cooling is absolutely vital.
Placing your reactor at the centre of a 3x3 cube of water is considered the very minimum in cooling requirements. Still and flowing water have the same cooling effect. Additional Reactor Chambers, Cooling Cells and Integrated Heat Dispensers will all have a positive effect on cooling. See the Nuclear Reactor page for a complete breakdown of heating and cooling in nuclear systems.

Step 5: The Green Glow
At this point, you should have a complete reactor, ideally situated inside a reinforced stone tank of water. No time for congratulations, though... we need fuel for the beast! Raw Uranium ore simply will not do, so it's time for:

Step 6: Cells of Plenty
So, how to we process Uranium, you ask? Easy!
You have to Compress it into shiny new Uranium Fuel Ingots:

Then shove those ingots into an Empty Cell to make a Uranium Cell!

These are suitable for use in the Chernobyl-2 Reactor, each capable of outputting incredible amounts of power!

Step 7: The Soothing Hum of Power
Reactors are capable of outputting considerable power: each Uranium Cell will output 10 EU/tick, meaning that high-output Reactors need high-level infrastructure to avoid machinery damage: HV_Transformers, MFS Units and Glass Fibre Cables are a common sight in a nuclear installation. Uranium Cells also have a considerable lifespan: each can produce between 2,000,000 to 14,000,000 EU!

Step 8: Holy Fukushima! <small>(with apologies to the easily offended!)</small>
If the proper precautions are taken, a Nuclear plant is as safe as a solar panel.

When things do go wrong though - they go wrong in spectacular fashion. The resultant blast of an overheated reactor will level everything in a ~30 block radius that isn't Reinforced or Obsidian. Thankfully a Reinforced Door still provides protection even when open, but be careful of siting anything in line with the power cable output from the containment vessel, as this is the one weak point in any nuclear plant.

Further Reading
Nuclear reactors are very valuable, have enormous energy-producing potential, and without a doubt have a steep learning curve.

A complete breakdown of how each reactor component works is available on the IC2 forum Here, or on the Nuclear Reactor page of the wiki.

A single RE Battery can store 10,000 EU, and can recharge your electric tools by simply right-clicking, using the current charge in the RE Battery. You can recharge the battery at a BatBox, MFE, or MFSU in the top slot, or charge the EU Storge Block by puting the battery in the lower slot. You can use it as often as you like, it will never break of material exhaustion!

You can also stack fully discharged RE Batteries up to 16, but you cannot stack charged batteries, even if the RE battery is not fully charged.

Recipe
For RE Battery (Rechargeable Battery):

Charge it up and you're good to go!

IC1 Only:

For Battery Pack (Not to be confused with the BatPack, which is something else)

Note: You cannot put the Battery Pack into a machine. You must first remove the batteries and then put them into the machine one at a time. Therefore its only use is to store six batteries in one inventory slot.

HAYO
Of course we don't want to bore you with some random details of the T500-Rechargeable Energy Storation Unit, so we just tell you this:<br/>
If one piece of coal would store 3000 units of power, our RE Battery's power level would be OVER NINETHOUSAND!
Take that, Vegeta! A lil battery can smelt your entire everything to something else!<br/>
Ah, and we didn't mention the big feature of our beloved little gadget yet: It's fully rechargeable and completely indestructable. This is meant serious: You can use it as often as you like to, it will never brake of material exhaustion!<br/>
However, since RE Batterys are somewhat fragile and therefore could be dangerous to handle if you bunch them up to a cluster, we even designed a special "T500-Rechargeable Energy Storation Unit Storage Device". The lil battery box is compact, safe and will store six charged Batteries.<br/>
And you can even reopen the entire package by simple RIGHTCLICKING, that's cool, isn't it?
Btw, what does rightclicking even mean?...
