The MVT (MV Transformer) is used to turn High Voltage (512 EU-P) into Medium Voltage (128 EU-P) and back. This is useful for powering advanced machines and for medium-range energy transport.
MV Transformers (MVT) are mainly used for converting High Voltage (512 EU/p) into Medium Voltage (128 EU/p) and vice versa.

By default, the MVT accepts 512 EU-P input and outputs 128 EUP. A 512 EUP or higher rated cable must be wired into the input face (the 3-dotted one) and 128 EUP or higher rated cable must be wired into the other faces.
Unlike Real Life™, there is no actual "voltage" in IC². EU travels in "packets" through wires with near-infinite speed and has smart pathfinding (somewhat like RP2 pneumatic tubes). Packets are measured in size (in EU/p) and volume (EU). (Size being the amount of energy it contains as it leaves a storage unit, volume being how much energy is left in each packet after inefficient cable usage).

A Redstone signal may be applied to reverse the conversion, thereby emitting 512 EUP from the output face (the 3-dotted one), and accepting 128 EUP or lower from the input faces. In reverse operation, 512 EUP or higher rated cable must be wired to the output face and any rate cable may be wired to the input faces.
An MVT operates in the following ways:

It can handle a maximum of one conversion per tick, limiting the maximum transfer to 512 EU/t in either mode.
* If redstone power is not applied, 512 EU in packets of up to 512 EU/p is converted into up to four packets of 128 EU/p. All conversions are limited to one per tick. (Converting 512 EU into 4x128 EU is considered one conversion.)
* If redstone power is applied, 512 EU in packets of up to 512 EU/p is converted into one packet of 512 EU/p. All conversions are limited to one per tick.

In order to convert to MV, you must point the input cable (maximum "voltage" is HV, 512 EU/p) to the 3-dotted side and then link any number of output cables from the 1-dotted side. Remember to use input cables that can withstand the packets you are sending in and Gold Cable, HV Cable or Glass Fibre Cable for the output.
In order to convert from HV to MV, you must point the cable carrying HV from a HV Transformer or MFS Unit to the 3-dotted side and then link a cable that can carry MV to one of the sides with a single dot. Then that cable will be carrying MV that you can link to advanced machines, store in a MFE Transmitter or convert to LV with an LV Transformer.

MV Transformers (MVT) are mainly used for converting High Voltage (512 EU/p) into Medium Voltage (128 EU/p) and vice versa.

An MVT operates in the following ways:

 • If redstone power is not applied, 512 EU in packets of up to 512 EU/p is converted into up to four packets of 128 EU/p. All conversions are limited to one per tick. (Converting 512 EU into 4x128 EU is considered one conversion.)
 • If redstone power is applied, 512 EU in packets of up to 512 EU/p is converted into one packet of 512 EU/p. All conversions are limited to one per tick.

Usage[edit]

When using any Transformer, remember that the 3-dotted side means higher voltage and the 1-dotted sides mean lower voltage. You can change the direction the 3-dotted side is facing by right-clicking a 1-dotted face with a Wrench.

Converting to MV:[edit]

In order to convert to MV, you must point the input cable (maximum "voltage" is HV, 512 EU/p) to the 3-dotted side and then link any number of output cables from the 1-dotted side. Remember to use input cables that can withstand the packets you are sending in and Gold Cable, HV Cable or Glass Fibre Cable for the output.

Converting to HV:[edit]

In order to convert to HV, you must apply redstone power through a lever, a repeater or a redstone wire, point the input cables (maximum "voltage" is HV, 512 EU/p) to any 1-dotted side and then link the output cable from the 3-dotted side. Remember to use input cables that can withstand the packets you are sending in and HV Cable or Glass Fibre Cable for the output.
